The Euromillions special draw on December 1st guarantees a minimum jackpot of 200 million euros

In case the 130 million of the Big Friday were already falling short, the Euromillions lottery is doubling its bets by announcing a new special draw for Friday, December 1st, with the novelty that, in this case, the minimum guaranteed jackpot will be 200 million euros, one of the largest figures ever put in play by the famous European lottery.

What does it mean that the minimum jackpot will be 200 million euros? It means that, regardless of the amount accumulated up to the previous draw, the next jackpot to be drawn on Friday, December 1st will go up to 200 million. Even if in the previous draw the jackpot at stake was 17 million euros (the standard minimum for all draws), the next jackpot will jump to 200 million euros.

The only exception would be in the event that the jackpot accumulated to date exceeds the established minimum of 200 million. If, for example, in the previous draw the jackpot had reached about 220 million, the draw would continue as normal. Although, clearly, the chances of this happening are really low, given that in the entire history of Euromillions only on 5 occasions has the 200 million euro mark been exceeded.

Thus, the great novelty of this special draw, compared to the already known Big Friday of 130 million euros, is that the jackpot will take an even bigger leap, breaking the 200 million euros mark that so few times has been reached. Thus, the jackpot announced for Friday, December 1st will be positioned among the 5 largest jackpots in Euromillions.

But there is more: in the event that there are no winners in the December 1st draw, the jackpot will accumulate again over the 200 million figure, reaching higher figures in the following draws. And here it is worth remembering an important detail about the current rules of the draw: currently, the EuroMillions limit is 240 million euros. Therefore, if no one wins the 200 million jackpot on December 1, the jackpot limit could be reached in a matter of a few draws.

What would happen in case the current limit of 240 million euros is reached? According to Euromillions rules, once the limit figure is reached, it can be maintained for a maximum of 4 more draws. Thus, during these 4 draws, the jackpot or first prize would remain static at 240 million, and the amount collected draw after draw would go on to swell the following prize categories, offering much larger prizes than usual in these categories. And if, at the 5th draw after the limit had been reached, no one had yet won the jackpot, it would be automatically distributed to the next category with winners.

Therefore, in summary, the minimum guaranteed jackpot of 200 million euros is a unique opportunity in the history of Euromillions, not only to win an extraordinary jackpot, but also to increase the chances of finally reaching the limit of 240 million euros currently in force. It is also worth remembering that once the current limit is reached, it would be increased by another 10 million euros, so it would become 250 million euros.

Sale of tickets to participate in the Euromillions 200 million Special Drawing

And now, the most important thing: when will it be possible to buy the tickets to participate in the draw? Although Euromillions does not have a limit of tickets for sale (players can buy as many tickets as they wish, and more than one player can stamp the same combination of numbers), the truth is that many players prefer to ensure their participation in the draw as soon as possible, to avoid complications about the date or simply forget to buy their ticket.

Euromillions enables the sale of tickets for each draw up to 2 weeks before its date. Therefore, in this case it will be possible to buy the tickets to participate in the Euromillions special draw on Friday December 1st with a guaranteed jackpot of 200 million euros, starting on Friday November 17th, after the closing of the sales of the draw of the same day (approximately 1 hour before the draw, which takes place at 21:15h).

Therefore, we will still have to wait a few weeks to get the tickets to participate in what will undoubtedly be one of the most awaited draws of the year. Stay tuned for November 17!
