El Gordo is a Spanish lottery game organized by Loterías y Apuestas del Estado and whose winning combination is offered punctually every Sunday after each draw on this page. Every week there is a draw of El Gordo de la Primitiva starting at 9:30 p.m. every Sunday. The draw is made through the classic system of the lotto games in which 5 balls are selected from 54 balls available in the drum. In addition, a key number from 0 to 9 is selected to form a Winning Combination composed of 5 numbers and 1 key number.

A lottery with history

El Gordo de la Primitiva began on January 31, 1993, with a price per bet of 500 pesetas of the time (3 euros), it had the same game system as the Primitive Lottery. The first Gordo de la Primitiva that the draw distributed went to a lucky player from Cordoba, who won a prize of 1,116 million pesetas.

The current format

The format of the Gordo de la Primitiva has been very similar since practically its beginnings, being some of the main novelties the reduction of the price of the bet in 1997, from the initial 500 pesetas to 250 pesetas. The next great evolution of the draw took place in 2001 with the introduction of the euro and the maintenance of the 250 pesetas price at the exchange rate of 1.50 euros per bet. In 2005 the rules changed again, introducing 8 game categories plus the reimbursement for the ticket that matches the key number, in addition, a minimum jackpot of 5 million euros was established.

The probability of winning and matching all 5 numbers and the key number is 1 in 31,625,100, and of matching all 5 numbers without the key number is 1 in 3,513,900. How to play

To participate, you must fill in a ticket which is made up of 6 blocks, each one with numbers from 1 to 54. To play an individual bet, you must fill in 5 numbers out of the 54 available, with a minimum of 1 block. It is also possible to play multiple bets, marking in a single block 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 (6, 21, 56, 126, 252, and 462 bets respectively). You can participate only for one draw of the week, but you can also participate in several weeks
