The Chispazo lottery is one of the most popular lottery games in Mexico. Drawings take place every day, and the odds are so good that even people from outside the North American country want to try Chispazo. Would you like to play it?
El Chispazo was launched in 1999 by the Mexican National Lottery. The game quickly became popular, and over the years several spin-off games were launched. El Chispazo de las Tres emerged in 2017, offering players another type of experience different from Chispazo.
Buying tickets for the Chispazo is an effortless task: there are more than 9,000 authorized points of sale, working throughout Mexico and giving everyone access to the coveted ticket.
El Chispazo es una lotería estándar, de estilo numérico. Para tener la oportunidad de ganar el premio gordo o el principal, tendrás que elegir cinco números de un conjunto de 28.
The set of numbers is much smaller than those of other national lotteries such as the 5/35 or 6/49 games. Therefore, the Chispazo is characterized by quite favorable odds of winning a prize.
Chispazo drawings take place every day at 9:15 p.m. local Mexico City time.
When you purchase a ticket, you can get it for the daily drawing or specify that you want to play in advance for some of the upcoming Chispazo drawings.
Fill in your five favorite numbers or leave the selection to the luck of the random mode. Like all other national lotteries, Chispazo has a quick pick option. If you choose this method of participating in the lottery, five numbers will be randomly assigned to your ticket when you decide to buy it.
Mexico's national lottery does allow ticket purchases over the Internet. An electronic system has been created so that Mexicans can play Chispazo online. The system is also accessible from abroad. When registering, players will have to choose a payment method (which will also be used to withdraw prizes). Mexico's official online lottery ticket purchasing system also features reminders and email notifications for added convenience.
Mexico's online ticket purchasing system also makes it possible for Mexican citizens to purchase tickets for some of the most important lotteries in the United States.
There are also licensed online sales agents with whom you can participate in Chispazo.
El Chispazo has four main prize levels. The main prize is the jackpot. It is awarded to those who manage to match all five numbers with those drawn. The odds of this happening are one in 98,200, spectacular odds compared to what other international lotteries offer.
The average prize for the winners is 142,000 Mexican pesos.
On one occasion a record jackpot of 349,227 Mexican pesos has been won. There is also a minimum jackpot of 10,000 pesos.
El Chispazo differs from other lotteries in that the daily jackpot does not accumulate for the next draw.
The amount of the jackpot depends on the number of people who buy tickets for the corresponding drawing and the number of winners.
Whenever the daily draw does not produce any winners, the jackpot amount will drop down to the second prize level. Therefore, those who match four of the five numbers will enjoy much larger prizes than usual.
Players who match four of the five daily Chispazo numbers will win an average prize of 1,247 pesos. The odds of winning the second prize level are one in 854. Matching three numbers will result in a prize of 50 pesos and matching two numbers will result in the lowest Chispazo prize of 10 pesos. The odds of winning the smallest prize in the game are one in six.
All players have 60 days from the date of the drawing to collect their prize, regardless of the amount they have won.
Amounts up to 9,999 pesos can be collected at any of the National Lottery's authorized points of sale. The amount will be delivered in cash and payment is immediate.
Amounts in excess of P10,000 shall be paid in the form of a check. A state income tax will be withheld prior to issuance of the check.
