The Spanish state lottery, currently "Loterías y Apuestas del Estado", is one of the oldest lotteries in existence. It began in 1763 (263 years ago, during the reign of Carlos III, and it was an instrument in favour of hospitals, hospices and other charities. This is the main reason why the Niños de San Ildefonso (a school in Madrid dating back to 1543) take part in the draws, and have been drawing the lucky numbers since 1771. At present the games are: Bonoloto, Euromillions (lottery shared with other countries), La Primitiva, El Gordo, Quiniela 1X2, Lotería Nacional, Quinigol, Lototurf and Quíntuple Plus.

ONCE

There is another lottery manager in Spain, the ONCE (Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles). This organization organizes a daily draw known as the Cupón de la ONCE (daily coupon, cuponazo and weekend sueldazo). In addition, this organization offers for sale Eurojackpot (lottery shared with more countries), SuperONCE and 7/39, as well as several "scratch and win" games.
