La Primitiva is a Spanish lottery game organized by Loterías y Apuestas del Estado and whose winning combination is offered promptly after each draw on this page. The draws are held twice a week on Thursday and Saturday at 21:40 hours approximately, using a classic system of 49 balls with numbers from 1 to 49 in a drum from which 6 balls are drawn to form the winning combination.

A lottery with history

The Lotería Primitiva began on December 10, 1763, during the reign of Carlos III. Subsequently, it was not held for more than a century, until in 1985 the draw was resumed, being held every Thursday and later every Saturday as well. Thus, we are talking about a lottery with an enormous tradition and a lot of history.

The current format

The Loteria Primitiva format has been very similar since practically its beginnings, with some of the latest novelties being the inclusion of the reintegro in the 90's, and more recently the inclusion of an extra category (6 correct numbers + reintegro). This additional category is more complicated to guess, which has generated much bigger jackpots

How to play

To participate, you must fill in a ticket which is made up of 8 blocks, each one with numbers from 1 to 49. To play an individual bet, you must fill in 6 numbers out of the 49 available, with a minimum of 2 blocks. It is also possible to play multiple bets, marking in a single block 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 (44, 7, 28, 84, 210, and 462 bets respectively). You can participate for one or more draws of the week

Result of La Primitiva

The first category is obtained by matching the 6 numbers of the winning combination plus the draw. In addition to the 6 numbers of the winning combination (if the draw is not matched, the second category prize is obtained), an additional number is drawn, known as complementary, which is used to form the third category of the game: 5 numbers of the winning combination + that complementary number. Finally, a number from 0 to 9 is drawn, which corresponds to the refund that is randomly assigned to each ticket when it is purchased. In case of coinciding the draw with the number played, the player obtains as an additional prize to the one obtained, the amount of the bets he/she has played on that ticket.
